6x06 Sundown: Recap

2004

Nadia is married to Omar, who runs a dry cleaning business and just opened a second store.  They have two kids who love their Uncle Sayid.  Nadia has been writing Sayid letters, Sayid keeps a picture of Nadia.  Sayid stays on the couch, Omar wakes him at 2:30 AM (23).  Omar is in trouble, borrowed money from the wrong people for his business, wants Sayid to help him by using his “skills”.  Sayid says no.

Omar is attacked and taken to the hospital.  At the hosptial (Jack cameo!) Sayid makes a move to go after the men that attacked him, but Nadia begs him to go home and watch the kids instead.  He does.  Nadia returns home and asks Sayid why he pushed her towards his brother Omar, when he wanted to be with her as much as she wanted to be with him.  Sayid tells her he has spent twelve years trying to wash his hands of what he’s done.  He cannot be with her because he doesn’t deserve her. 

As Sayid is going to pick up the kids the next day, he is stopped by the goons for the man Omar owes money to.  They take Sayid to the restaurant where Mile’s ability was tested.  The man Omar owes money to is revealed to be Keamy.  Sayid breaks free and kills the two goons and, even though he makes a meager attempt to make good, Keamy.  Sayid hears commotion from the back and finds Jin tied up in the fridge.  They are unable to communicate because Jin does not speak English.

2007

Sayid is mad and wants answers from Dogen.  They fight.  Dogen pins Sayid but his baseball drops, so he stops, tells Sayid to leave and never return. Sayid is leaving when Miles tells him he was dead for two hours before he woke up.

Flocke convinces Claire to deliver a message for him in the temple.  She tells Dogen “You know who” wants to see him.  Dogen knows Flocke will kill him if he leaves the temple, so Claire suggests he sends someone Flocke won’t kill.  Dogen calls for Jack and Hurley but they are out of the temple.  He then asks for Sayid, and gives him a (special?) dagger.  Dogen tells Sayid Flocke will come to him as “someone you know who has died” and he must plunge the dagger into his chest before he speaks, after that it will be too late.  Outside the temple, Sayid encounters FLocke.  Flocke says “Hello Sayid” and then Sayid plunges the dagger into his chest.  It does nothing.  FLocke tells Sayid Dogen was just hoping FLocke would kill Sayid for making an attempt on his life, and Dogen is just trying to avoid having to kill Sayid himself.  FLocke offers Sayid the chance to be with Nadia again, and gives Sayid a message to deliver to the temple-dwellers: Flocke is waiting for them outside the temple.  Jacob is dead so they are free to leave the temple, and can choose to join FLocke and leave the island forever.  If they remain in the temple after sundown, they will die.  This creates a panic as people leave the temple, while Lennon tries to convince them to stay.

When Kate returns to the temple, Miles tells her Claire is now in the temple as well.  Kate is lead to where Claire is being held by the Others in a hole inside the temple.  Kate explains how she has been raising Aaron, and she returned to save Claire and reunite her with Aaron.  Claire is pissed, tells Kate she’s not the one who needs saving because “he’s coming”.  Kate hides in the hole with Claire as the smoke monster, carrying bodies, flies over them.

Sayid finds Dogen by the springs, he’s annoyed Dogen sent him to die.  Dogen explains how he was a good man who one day drove drunk with his son in the car and got into an accident.  He survived, his son didn’t, and he keeps the baseball as a reminder.  Just when things seem to be going well, and Sayid has agreed to stay in the temple, Sayid plunges Dogen into the water and drowns him.  Lennon comes in, gets upset about Dogen, tells Sayid Dogen was the only thing keeping MIB out, and gets his throat slit.  Sayid now has evil eyes.  Ben comes to get Sayid, but when they talk he realizes Sayid is now completely infected, and backs away.

Running from the smoke monster, Miles encounters Ilana, Lapidus, Ben, and Sun.  Ben goes to find Sayid.  Miles tells Sun Jin was in the temple but left.  Ilana takes them to the passage with glyphs on the walls and opens a space in the wall for them to hide.

Sayid, Claire, and Kate exit the temple, stepping over bodies as they go.  Kate grabs a gun from one of the bodies.  They join the rest of the temple-dwellers and FLocke, who gives Kate a glance before walking off into the jungle.
