We thought we’d do a little prep work for tomorrow’s beginning of the end, so here are 65 things we hope to have answered by the end of the series in May.
- Who and/or what are the man in black and Jacob? And what is the nature of their relationship?
- What is Smokey? Additionally, can it not come onto the beach? Is it fueled by something more inland?
- Who/what is Matthew Abbaddon?
- What makes Walt “special”
- Who are Adam and Eve?
- What causes the Others to start having problems with pregnancy? And why was Claire able to have her child?
- What is the significance of Jacob’s touch?
- What happened to young Ben in the temple that left him “changed”?
- What is the deal with Richard Alpert?
- How and why did Miles get his “powers”?
- How did Radzinsky wind up in the hatch, drawing the map?
- What is the significance of the Numbers? Are they cursed or “magical” in some way?
- What brought the Others/Hostiles to the island?
- What is the background of Charles Widmore?
- Why must the island have a “leader” and how is that leader determined?
- Why was that Egyptian statue erected on the island? And is there any significance to Jacob living beneath it?
- What becomes of Rose and Bernard - Do they live? Do they die? Are they Adam and Eve?
- Where is Christian’s body and what is the nature of his character?
- What are the Whispers?
- Why was Rousseau and her crew brought to the island? (Note: Assuming all people are “brought” to the island)
- Why was anyone brought to the island? (Desmond, Rousseau, Oceanic)
- Who sends out the Numbers message?
- Who dropped the Dharma food?
- Who does Juliet remind Ben of? (Others made references to Juliet looking like “her” but never say who)
- What happened to Ben’s friend Annie?
- Who said “help me” in “Jacob’s” cabin?
- How did Horace’s cabin become Jacob’s home?
- How did Eloise know what was going to happen, and what changed that made her unable to see the future (When she cannot answer Penny’s question of whether or not Desmond will be okay)
- Faraday, after spending all that time on Mainland, has a journal that tells him exactly what will happen at every moment. How does he know this?
- Why does Eloise slap Widmore when he asserts Faraday is his son too?
- Who is Penny’s mother?
- When and why did the Man in Black choose Locke?
- Why can’t the Man in Black kill Jacob?
- Why can’t Ben kill Widmore?
- Why was Libby a mental patient with Hurley?
- Who built the Temple and when? What is its purpose?
- Why was Sun left behind in the present, while the rest of the Oceanic 6 went sent back to the past?
- Who put the frozen donkey wheel there and what does it do?
- Why is the exit point for the island Tunisia? If you can exit there, why can’t you enter there?
- Did the “psychic” really have a family in LA for Aaron?
- Did the “psychic” really know that the plane would crash?
- Why were they all on this plane in the first place? Were they led there or did they choose it?
- Why was Libby on Oceanic 815?
- What is in the Black Rock journal and why did Widmore want it so badly?
- What drives Rousseau “mad” to the point of killing her crew? And what what exactly made the crew “sick”?
- What was Ben signaling when he used that mirror to warn the Others and what happens with them in the Temple?
- The cabin - how and why does it move? It is a real cabin or another manifestation of Smokey? Because also, if it moves, how does Ilana and her group find it?
- Who are Ilana and her group? How do they know about Jacob?
- Why can Hurley see the cabin? Is it significant? (Both Ben and Locke expressed surprise when they found out that he could see it.) Is Hurley “special” too?
- What happened to Claire?
- Is Vincent special?
- Who is R.G. on Naomi’s bracelet and why does Elsa have a similar bracelet? (re: The Economist when Sayid remove’s Naomi’s bracelet to read the inscription)
- When and why did Ethan become an “Other”?
- When did the Others and the Dharma Initiative come to their truce and what were the exact terms?
- What pushed the Others to “purge” the Dharma Initiative? Was their truce broken?
- Was the Incident really caused by the Losties or something entirely different?
- Why was the US Army on the Island in 1954?
- Why did US Army leave the hydrogen bomb there?
- What makes Desmond uniquely special?
- Why did Radzinky create the blast door map in the Hatch? What was the purpose?
- Why did Eloise Hawking leave the island?
- What is the significance of the lists? And do the lists really come from Jacob?
- Do healing centers really exist? (Specifically the Island’s healing properties or the one Rose and Bernard visited in Australia)
- Are the Others aware of Jacob’s nemesis?
- Were the Others unaffected by the time jumps because they were in the Temple? If so, why?
